Malaysia has agreed in principle to restart the new high-speed rail project

Recently, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Anwar announced that the government has agreed in principle to restart the high-speed rail project linking Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur with Singapore. Malaysia and Singapore announced plans for a new high-speed rail link in February 2013. In January 2021, the two sides issued a joint statement announcing the cancellation of the high-speed rail project because the two sides could not agree on changes to the project before the deadline.
